Gary will be covering the 350 mile distance in just four days, and is hoping to raise as much as possible for Action Medical Research. It’s a national charity which, while not having the highest of profiles, does have more than half a century of history and an impressive record of achievement behind it. For example, research funded by the charity in its early years made a major contribution to the development of a polio vaccine, and the virtual eradication of the disease.
At present, Action Medical Research is funding more than 70 different projects in the UK, though sadly for Gary, a cure for saddle-sores is not among them.
